1. Overview
At MEEMS REPUBLIC (PTY) LTD, we take pride in the quality of our hand-crafted, limited-run apparel. We want you to love your purchase. However, we understand that issues can occasionally arise. This policy outlines your rights and our procedures for returns, exchanges, and refunds in compliance with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
2. Defective or Damaged Items
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or significantly not as described, we will make it right.
- Notification: You must notify us of any damage or defect within 7 days of receiving your order by emailing enquiries@meemsrepublic.com.
- Proof: Please include your order number and clear photos or videos showing the defect or damage.
- Resolution: Once verified, we will offer you a replacement (if available) or a full refund, including the original shipping costs. We will cover the return shipping costs for defective items via our courier partner, The Courier Guy.
3. Incorrect Items
If we accidentally send you the wrong item, size, or design, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at enquiries@meemsrepublic.com. We will arrange for the correct item to be sent to you at no additional cost and will cover the return shipping for the incorrect item.
4. “Hand-Crafted” Variations (Please Read)
MEEMS REPUBLIC specializes in limited-run, hand-crafted designs. Because of the nature of our production process:
- Slight variations in print placement, color saturation, and fabric texture are normal and are considered part of the unique, artisanal character of the garment.
- These minor variations do not constitute a defect and are not valid grounds for a return or refund.
5. Change of Mind & Sizing Issues
Due to the limited-run and exclusive nature of our collections, we do not accept returns or offer refunds for “change of mind” or “ordered the wrong size.”
- We highly recommend consulting the size guides provided on each product page before purchasing.
- If you receive an item that doesn’t fit, we may offer a one-time size exchange subject to stock availability. The customer will be responsible for the return and re-shipping courier fees.
6. Non-Returnable Items
The following items cannot be returned or refunded:
- Items that have been worn, washed, altered, or damaged by the customer.
- Items returned without the original tags attached and in their original packaging.
- Items purchased on final clearance or marked as “Final Sale.”
- Gift cards or digital products.
7. The Return Process
If your return is approved under Sections 2 or 3 of this policy, follow these steps:
- Contact Us: Email enquiries@meemsrepublic.com with your order number and reason for return. Do not send items back without prior authorization.
- Authorization: We will review your request and, if approved, provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and return shipping instructions.
- Ship the Item: Package the item securely in its original packaging. Include a note with your name, order number, and the RMA number inside the package.
- Drop Off: Drop the package off at the nearest The Courier Guy branch (or as directed by our support team).
Items returned without an RMA number or sent back at the customer’s own initiative without prior approval will be refused or sent back to the customer at their own cost.
8. Refunds
Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we will process your refund.
- Timeline: Refunds are typically processed within 7 to 14 business days of receiving the returned item.
- Method: Refunds will be issued via PayFast EFT back to the original bank account used to make the purchase.
- Notification: You will receive an email confirmation once your refund has been processed. Please allow your bank 2-5 business days to reflect the funds in your account.
